Meet and Greet Talking Points

John Manzelli for Homewood City Council – Ward 3

Leadership for the Future. Independent. Transparent. Community-Focused. Why I’m Running

Over the past few weeks, I’ve walked every block of Ward 3, listening to your concerns and hearing what matters most. I’m running to represent our community with energy, integrity, and a clear plan for Homewood’s future.

This election isn’t about familiar names. It’s about who will truly lead with vision, accountability, and respect for our neighborhoods, our schools, and our values.

A Master Plan for Homewood’s Future: The 3-Legged Stool

 Smart, Responsible Development

  • Thoughtful redevelopment of Brookwood Village that benefits residents and supports schools.

  • Ensure Samford’s expansion respects neighborhood integrity and public process.

  • Prioritize a long-term, community-driven master plan for 2025–2035.

Capital Campaigns for Schools & Parks

  • Support sustainable funding and long-term infrastructure planning for public schools.

  • Invest in parks and recreation that reflect Homewood’s identity and family values.

Housing Density vs. Neighborhood Character

  • Protect the character and charm of our neighborhoods.

  • Balance growth with livability, smart zoning, and meaningful community input.

Micro-Issues: What You’ve Told Me Matters

  • Traffic Flow & Parking: Improve traffic management and expand neighborhood parking.

  •  Sidewalks & Drainage: Complete overdue infrastructure and safety projects.

  • Children on Scooters. Need to bring this inline with bike laws and require helmets and traffic regulations.

  • Accountability: Increase transparency in decision-making and public spending.

  • Arts & Culture: Champion the growth of cultural spaces and community arts.

  • Public Schools: Advocate for financial support and long-range planning.

What Sets Me Apart

  • Independent: No donations. No political ties. I work for you.

  • Experienced: 25+ years in leadership roles across public service, education, and nonprofits.

  • Proven: Led the grassroots victory against the overdevelopment of the Creekside Project.

  • Degree in Political Science

Let’s Shape the Future — Together

The next 4 years will shape the next decade. Let’s elect leadership that values transparency, community, and creative problem-solving.

Support the Campaign!

I’m running a grassroots, people-powered campaign built on trust—not political machines or paid consultants. I believe in a positive, non-partisan vision for Homewood and that we win by inspiring neighbors, sharing fresh ideas, and building momentum one voter at a time.

I started this race self-funded, believing we could grow this campaign block by block. And we have—so much so that we’re now one of the two front-runners. But with a likely runoff ahead, I can’t do it alone.

If you believe in this vision and can comfortably help, I’d be honored to have your support.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Put up a Yard Sign – I’ll deliver it personally.

  • Share on Social Media – Help spread the word.

  • Donate – Every contribution keeps us competitive.

  • Vote August 26 – And remind your neighbors.

  • Host a Meetup – Porch, coffee, or backyard—I’ll be there.

This campaign is about real connection, honest leadership, and a brighter future for Homewood. Thanks for standing with me.
